Because of the poor bite, I used Friday to tackle some computer work that had been piling up. Got on the water Saturday morning and it was flat-out awesome! The water had warmed to 64 degrees and they were on! It has been a while since PETA has gone after the angling community, but they are at it again (and putting links right in my 'in-box' without actually SPAMing me.....Sean McLoughlinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01738527602973055528noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7107648405278698180.post-63390436280149215322008-04-28T19:24:00.018-04:002008-05-10T08:31:24.728-04:00Hoernke Wins Lake NormanCongratulations to Sean Hoernke on his first tour level victory! I am excited to see him win because I know how hard he has worked over the last twelve years to notch wins on every level from the BFL up to FLW tour and even a BASS Open. So stop by Sean's blog and congratulate him on his recent win. Friday the water temperature was between 52 - 56 degrees. I managed a couple of 2 - 2.5 pounders on a Texas rigged 5" Green Pumpkin Flapp'n Tail Worm, but not much else. Over night the water temperature jumped to 55 - 60 degrees and the fishing was much more productive. Saturday I caught a few good keepers on Sean McLoughlinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01738527602973055528noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7107648405278698180.post-4185894030797138602008-04-15T20:29:00.010-04:002008-05-10T08:30:50.028-04:00Recycle RespoolThis picture is from six reels that I respooled tonight and I still have six more to go. I will make this mess more times than I can count this season and I am sure many of you reading this will do the same. The great thing about used fishing line is it can be recycled. Berkley, a major producer of fishing line, has been promoting and facilitating a recycling program for over a decade and so Sean McLoughlinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01738527602973055528noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7107648405278698180.post-50616179072358989142008-04-07T12:01:00.011-04:002008-04-28T20:27:34.108-04:00What The FLW ?*!@!? As you can probably imagine, I set my DVR to record all of the FLW and BASS tournaments. Last night I sat down to watch the FLW Tour event from Lake Toho in Florida and saw Hulk Hogan flexing in a Fantasy Fishing T-shirt...What the hell is Hulk Hogan doing endorsing Fantasy Fishing? Whose ideas was that? What does a washed-up wrestler have to do with fishing? I paused the show and went to Sean McLoughlinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01738527602973055528noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7107648405278698180.post-56012342508302701642008-03-28T18:50:00.015-04:002008-04-28T20:29:53.603-04:00HardKore Klinix is hereI have added a new section to my blog called HardKore Klinix. HK-X will be an archive of tips and techniques articles that I have posted in my blog or collected from around the net. I have posted the HK-X archives about half-way down in the sidebar. That does not mean it will always be there, but that is its home for now. My hope is it will become large enough so you can use it as a resource for Sean McLoughlinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01738527602973055528noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7107648405278698180.post-90361414813041908372008-03-28T18:50:00.014-04:002008-04-28T20:29:30.071-04:00HK-X: The Four Stages of Spring I realize that the fishing season is in full swing for many of you, but up North we are just gearing up. So for that reason I decided to make the first installment of HardKore Klinix about patterning Springtime bass. I hope you find it useful and be able to apply some of the information on your next outing. The Four Stages of Spring ~ The Four Stages of Spring is part one of a three part Sean McLoughlinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01738527602973055528noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7107648405278698180.post-85472998614687284362008-03-17T07:13:00.004-04:002008-04-28T20:30:10.923-04:00Delicious Tidbits I will be adding a new Tips & Techniques section to my blog in the following week. Initially, I was just going to post them on the main page, but then I thought it would be nice if you didn't have to search for them. I am not sure how it will be set up, but I think there will be a link in the sidebar so you will have access to all the tasty tidbits of information in one spot. I will try to post Sean McLoughlinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01738527602973055528noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7107648405278698180.post-29505101755720822342008-03-09T17:41:00.008-04:002008-04-28T20:23:48.729-04:00The X Factor - Vertical Lures Field Staff I have had a good month so far and this just adds to it. I am excited to be starting the 2008 tournament season as part of the Vertical Lures Field Staff. Vertical Lures Jig X, Tube X, and Chunk X were designed for my fishing strength - flipping heavy cover. Of course they weren't designed for me, but their unique designs, especially the design of the Jig X, eliminate all of the problems I haveSean McLoughlinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01738527602973055528noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7107648405278698180.post-30861773407666376702008-03-03T07:11:00.031-05:002008-04-28T20:24:21.914-04:00SAC Fastener Company Sponsorship Agreement I am proud to announce that I have entered into a sponsorship agreement and will be promoting SAC Fastener Company during the 2008 tournament season. SAC Fastener Company is a family owned and operated business located in Williston, Vermont. Although their main business is supplying industrial and construction fasteners, these guys are much more than nuts and bolts. SAC has long history of Sean McLoughlinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01738527602973055528noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7107648405278698180.post-38605673203875563042008-02-24T11:22:00.018-05:002008-04-28T20:24:54.290-04:002008 BASSMASTER CLASSIC ~ props to Hartley I just finished watching the coverage of the 2008 Bassmaster Classic. I knew who won since it really ended yesterday, but I like to watch the highlights and hear Zona and Tommy Sanders babble. I thought the coverage this year was pretty good; they had a descent amount of fishing highlights and the interviews were at least entertaining. The only place I can say ESPN blew it was on the first day. I have watched Ultimate Match Fishing since the beginning. The format is great fun to watch: two top-notch professional anglers fish a four quarter match, each getting two quarters to fish from the front deck. If they cast over the imaginary line that runs through the center of the boat they get docked weight - heaviest bag wins. Some of the highlights for me were watching Luke Clausen school Sean McLoughlinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01738527602973055528noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7107648405278698180.post-89721623511229265772008-02-08T18:03:00.005-05:002008-04-28T20:30:29.194-04:00Wading through color selection When I was learning about bass fishing I remember being overwhelmed by all the available lure colors: Citruse, Lavendar Shad, Sour Grape, Texas Craw, Spring Craw, Gold Dust, Colelsaw - Reaction Innovations has 47 colors in their Sweet Beaver bait alone! Fishing through the ice is not for me; I guess some anglers use it as a way to get through the winter, but since I don't like catching panfish or 'gators' when it's 80 degrees and sunny, I am sure I wouldn't like it in the cold. If you are like me and don't see the appeal of ice fishing, here are a few Sean McLoughlinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01738527602973055528noreply@blogger.com
